Connoisseurs
of Indian Cuisine have been clamouring to experience the outstanding
addition to Cheshire's restaurant scene - The Deeba, Poynton.
Following
the outstanding success of the Deeba takeaway, established in 1994 owner
Hussain Shah decided to build on his reputation for culinary excellence
and open a restaurant that would extend the standards he had already
set.
This
is a high class establishment where careful thought has been given to
the most minute detail - from the menu covers to cutlery. The decor is
modern and sophisticated combining a vibrant colour scheme with elegant,
yet comfortable furnishings.
The
Deeba Restaurant, is a cut above the average Indian Restaurant and has
won acclaim from both the public and food critics alike, receiving an
accolade of praise from food critic Ray King of the Manchester Evening
News.
The
Deeba has been commended with two awards from Macclesfield Borough
Council. They are, the prestigious Food Safety and Hygiene award and
the Heartbeat Award for healthy food choices. It is also the first take
away in the borough to achieve such an award.
An
interest in good food runs in Mr Shah's family. His grandfather, Nazir
Ud-Din, owned the Manzil Restaurant situated on Stockport Road. The
Manzil was Manchester's most famous curry house in the 60's and 70's.
From the basement, Nazir Ud-Din began to manufacture his own brand of
pastes and sauces and from this formed the famous Nazir Canned Indian
Food Company. Nazir Ud-Din has passed his culinary expertise down
through the generations.
Shah's
father was the Manzil chef and was reputed to be one of Manchester's
finest chefs. He, in turn, passed his knowledge to his son. Shah said
"I learned everything from him. The secret is in the recipe. We
cook everything fresh to order in an open kitchen, using the highest
quality meat, poultry, herbs and spices."
